Who this is for

Everything for a week on the snow. Tick each item as it is packed and write how many, or hire or own, on the line beside it.

Skiers and snowboarders packing for themselves, and parents packing for a family ski trip where half the kit is outgrown between seasons.

What this helps you track

  • Layers and outerwear for the slope, item by item
  • Which equipment you are hiring and which you are bringing
  • Evening and après clothes that are easy to forget
  • Sun and cold protection, passes and insurance papers
  • Children's spares and labels, alongside the passes and papers

How to use it

  1. Write the resort, the dates, who is travelling and whether you are hiring kit or bringing your own.
  2. Go through the lists before you shop, so you only buy what is missing or outgrown.
  3. Write how many of each item on the line beside it, and tick the box once it is in the bag.
  4. Add your own items in the browser version, or in the margin on paper, such as boot bags or spare goggles.
  5. Keep the sheet in the case for the return journey, or use the browser version, which saves in your own browser.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The online version keeps what you enter in your own browser and builds the completed PDF on your device.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Should I hire or bring skis and boots?

That depends on your own kit, the cost of carrying it and the hire prices at your resort. The equipment list has room for both, so write 'hire' or 'own' on the line beside each item once you have decided.

Does it cover what my insurance or lift pass needs?

It reminds you to pack the papers, not what they should say. Check your own policy for winter sports cover and ask the resort or tour operator what they need to see.

What about the children's kit?

Children's clothing goes on the same lines as yours, with the numbers written beside them. The last list adds the items most often outgrown or left at home; print a copy per child if that is easier.

Does this work for snowboarding?

Yes. Replace poles with whatever you use, and write board, bindings and boots on the equipment lines. The clothing lists are the same for both.
