The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

Everything owned and everything owed. One table lists assets with who they are held with and whether they are held alone or jointly; the other lists debts. Totals give the overall picture and the net figure, using values you enter yourself.

People putting their affairs in order who want one clear picture of their finances, and executors building the list of an estate from statements and letters.

What this helps you track

  • Each account, investment, property and item of value, and who it is held with
  • Whether each asset is held in a sole name or jointly
  • Every loan, card, mortgage and bill owed
  • Total assets, total liabilities and the net figure
  • How much of the total is held jointly and how much solely

How to use it

  1. Write the name, the valuation date and who prepared the schedule at the top.
  2. List each asset with its type, who it is held with and the account or policy reference, and mark it sole or joint.
  3. Enter a value from the latest statement or your own estimate, and say which in the notes; the sheet supplies no values.
  4. List each debt with the creditor, its type, the reference and the amount owed on the valuation date.
  5. The joint column, totals and net figure are worked out in the browser and the workbook; on paper, add each column and take liabilities from assets.
  6. Redo the schedule when balances change or a new valuation date is needed.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Where do the values come from?

From you: the latest statement, a valuation you have obtained or your own estimate. The sheet supplies nothing. Using the same valuation date for every line makes the totals mean something.

Why split sole and joint?

Because jointly held assets may be treated differently from those in one name when an estate is dealt with. The rules differ by country and by type of ownership, so check the rules where you are; the sheet simply keeps the two apart.

Should a mortgage go on both tables?

Put the home's value in assets and the mortgage balance in liabilities. The net figure then reflects both. The property and valuables schedule goes into more detail on property if you need it.

Is this the same as a net worth tracker?

A net worth tracker follows the figure over months. This schedule is a snapshot at one date, with the references and ownership an executor needs, and is meant to sit in the affairs folder.
