What this sheet is for

List sets by number, which is the only thing anyone can actually search on, and record whether the box and instructions are still with them.

Who it is for

Collectors, families with a large collection, and anybody selling, insuring or inheriting one.

How to use it

  1. Record the set number first; the name is ambiguous and the number is not.
  2. Say plainly whether it is complete, and note missing parts separately.
  3. Record whether box and instructions are present — for many sets that is most of it.
  4. Photograph built display pieces before dismantling them.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

Does this help me value a collection?

No, and it deliberately prints no values. What a set is worth depends on condition, completeness, the box, the instructions and the day. This sheet records what you own and what you paid, which is what a valuer or an insurer will ask for first.
