What this sheet is for

Record the things a finished object cannot tell you later: which dye lot, which hook you really used, and how much was left over.

Who it is for

Knitters, crocheters, quilters, sewists and anyone who has run out of yarn two rows from the end.

How to use it

  1. One sheet per project.
  2. Record the dye lot as well as the colour.
  3. Write down the hook or needle you actually used, and what the pattern said.
  4. Note every change you made, as you make it.
  5. Record what was left over — it decides what you can make next.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

Why record the dye lot?

Because matching yarn later is nearly impossible without it, and the ball band goes in the bin long before the project is finished.
