Who this is for

The long weekend on one page. Plan meals, visitors and outings for each day, map the egg hunt clue by clue, and tick off eggs, food and decorations.

Families organising the Easter weekend, hosts expecting visitors for Sunday lunch, and whoever is hiding the eggs.

What this helps you track

  • Meals, activities and visitors for each day of the weekend
  • What has to be prepared and when
  • Every egg hunt clue and hiding place, hidden and found
  • Eggs and small gifts for each child
  • Food shopping and decorations to get in beforehand

How to use it

  1. Write the year, the dates, who is hosting and the visitors you expect at the top.
  2. Fill each day with meals, activities, who is coming and anything to prepare, starting with the day of the main meal.
  3. Plan the egg hunt: write each clue or hiding place and who it is for, then tick hidden as you set it up.
  4. Tick found during the hunt, so no egg is left behind the sofa.
  5. Work through the checklist before the weekend. The browser version saves in your own browser.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The online version keeps what you enter in your own browser and builds the completed PDF on your device.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Why write down every hiding place?

Because it is easy to forget one, and chocolate left in a warm spot or found by the dog weeks later is no fun. Ticking hidden and found makes sure the count matches.

How do I keep the hunt fair between ages?

Use the for column to give younger children low, easy spots and older ones harder clues, and set the same number of eggs for each child in the checklist.

Does it only cover four days?

The days table has lines for Good Friday to Easter Monday, which is the long weekend in many places. Cross out a day you do not have, or use the spare line for the Thursday before.

Can I use it for a spring holiday that is not Easter?

Yes. Change the day names and use the hunt table for any treasure hunt; the rest of the page works for any long weekend with visitors.
