What happened, and when — the date and the time of day.
Pets and animals · PT-456 · Log
Free dog walking log — date, who walked, where, minutes and distance, with the totals added up for you. Excel, PDF and fill-in-online versions.
2 pages. The A4 and US Letter files are laid out identically, so neither is shrunk to fit.
Print it and write on it
Fillable PDF type and save
Spreadsheet formulas included
The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.
A line for every walk. Each one records the date, who took the dog, where they went, how long they were out and how far, with room for what happened on the way. The minutes and the distance add themselves up in the workbook and the browser version.
Households sharing the walking between several people, professional walkers keeping a record for their clients, and owners following something their vet or trainer asked them to write down.
The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.
Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.
So the column adds up without anyone converting hours and minutes on paper. Write the time you set off for the record and the length of the walk as a plain number of minutes for the arithmetic.
This log has no view on that and carries no figure. Breed, age, health and weather all come into it, and your vet knows your dog. The sheet records what you actually did.
Yes — write the client or dog in the who column and print a sheet per dog, which keeps each client's record separate. The dog walking round and billing sheet is built for a round of several dogs in a day.
The summary adds the minutes, converts them to hours and totals the distance. Anything beyond that you can work out from the workbook, where every figure is in a cell you can use.
The browser version works on a phone and saves in your own browser, so a walk can go in on the way home and the sheet printed later.
What happened, and when — the date and the time of day.
The dates you are away and when the animal goes and comes back.
Which dogs are on the round, whose they are and how to get in.
Which skills are reliable, which are getting there and which have not started.
Printable sheets, workbooks and tools on the same subject.
Keep a record of what you actually worked on with a dog, and of what the dog has already met. The notes column is the point — a reaction written down at the time is worth more later than a tick.
What a pet costs across a year, alongside the dates that matter — vaccinations, treatments, insurance renewal — counted down.
Every sheet, binder, game and puzzle on Upkeep Papers is free to download, with no email and no account. Making them is not free: each one takes days of research, design and checking, and the site costs money to run. If something here saved you time, you can buy us a coffee. It is entirely optional: nothing is locked, and nothing changes if you don’t.
