The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

Save for a trip without a scramble. You list what the holiday will cost, mark what is already paid, and the sheet spreads the rest across the months left before departure. A second table records what actually goes into the pot each month.

Households saving for a family holiday, friends planning a trip together, and anyone who would rather pay for a holiday before it happens than afterwards.

What this helps you track

  • Every cost of the trip, from flights to spending money
  • Which costs are booked and paid and which are still to find
  • The monthly amount to set aside to cover the rest in time
  • What has actually been saved each month, with a running balance

How to use it

  1. Write the destination, departure date, number of travellers and the months left until you go.
  2. Put an estimate against each cost line, adding lines for anything specific to this trip.
  3. Enter what is already paid; the still to pay column and totals are worked out in the browser and workbook, or by subtraction on paper.
  4. Read the monthly set-aside from the summary and write it in the planned column for each month.
  5. Record what you actually put in each month; the balance column keeps a running total of the pot.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

How do I estimate spending money?

From your own habits: what you spent on a similar trip, or a daily amount you choose multiplied by the days away. The sheet does not suggest a figure; it just adds up whatever you enter.

What if a price changes after I book?

Change the estimate to the real figure and the still to pay total and monthly set-aside update. On paper, cross through and rewrite the line.

Does paid money come out of the fund?

The paid column records bookings already settled, from whatever money paid them. The monthly table records what goes into the pot towards the rest, and the summary compares the two.

Can a group share one plan?

Yes. Use the total for the whole party, or keep one sheet per household and divide shared costs between them before you start.
