One page. The A4 and US Letter files are laid out identically, so neither is shrunk to fit.

Spreadsheet formulas included

The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.

Fill it in online

The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

Every policy and contract that renews, on one page. The common ones are already printed down the side; you add the provider, the reference, the date it renews and what it costs, and the sheet counts the days to each renewal, finds the nearest and totals the premiums.

Households that have been auto-renewed once too often, anyone who wants to see the year's renewals before the year starts, and the person in a family who ends up ringing the insurers.

What this helps you track

  • Which policies and contracts the household holds, and with whom
  • The reference to quote and the date each one renews
  • How many days there are to each renewal, counted from today
  • Whether it renews itself unless you act
  • What the year's premiums add up to, at the figures you wrote

How to use it

  1. Write the household and the year at the top.
  2. Go down the printed rows — home, contents, car, pet, travel and the rest — and fill in the provider, the reference and the renewal date for each one you hold; cross out the rest.
  3. Write the premium or annual cost as it appears on your own documents. No figure on this sheet is ours.
  4. Tick auto where the provider will roll it over unless you tell them not to.
  5. Read the days-to-go column and the summary, which are worked out in the browser and the workbook; on paper, count forward from the date.
  6. Add your own rows for anything not printed — subscriptions, memberships, a boiler plan — and start a fresh sheet each year.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Why does days to go show a minus figure?

Because the date has passed. A minus number means the policy has renewed or lapsed since you last looked, and either way the row wants updating.

Does it tell me whether a premium is fair?

No. It totals what you typed and nothing more. Comparing quotes is a job for you and the quotes; the sheet gives you the dates to do it before the renewal lands.

What counts as a policy here?

Anything with a renewal date and a cost: insurance of any kind, breakdown cover, a phone contract, a TV or broadband package, a subscription. If it renews, it belongs on the sheet.

Should I cancel auto-renewal?

That is your decision and depends on the policy, the price and the rules where you are. The tick box records which ones will renew themselves so the decision is made on purpose rather than by default.

Can I use it for one person rather than a household?

Yes. Write a name in the household field and use the rows that apply.
